About Me

Dr. Heidi Stevens earned both her master’s and doctoral degrees in School Psychology from Alfred University, an APA and NASP-accredited institution in New York. With a diverse background, Dr. Stevens has worked in various settings, including assisting students build academic skills and navigate disability accommodations within a post-secondary setting, as a School Psychologist in Southeast Michigan with expertise in IEPs and 504 plans, and providing therapy in private practice to individuals ranging from 5 to 64 years old. She has extensive experience conducting comprehensive evaluations and therapy for children, adolescents, and adults, and is skilled in supporting individuals with ADHD, Autism, anxiety, depression, learning disabilities, and adjustment disorders.

A significant area of Dr. Stevens’ passion lies in supporting individuals through perinatal and postpartum transitions. With specialized training in perinatal mental health, she provides compassionate care to new, soon-to-be, and seasoned parents as they navigate the emotional and psychological changes that come with parenthood. Dr. Stevens is experienced in supporting parents with postpartum depression and anxiety and ADHD, and understands the unique adjustments involved in the transition to parenthood. She is dedicated to creating a safe, supportive space where parents can openly explore their experiences and develop effective coping strategies. Beyond the perinatal period, Dr. Stevens also supports parents of older children, teenagers, and young adults, guiding them through the challenges of school pressures, peer relationships, and fostering independence.

Dr. Stevens utilizes a range of evidence-based practices, tailoring her approach to the unique needs of each client. She frequently incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients gain insight into their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while navigating daily challenges. She also integrates techniques from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and Solution-Focused Therapy. While Dr. Stevens recognizes the value of diagnostic labels, she firmly believes in individualizing her approach to the unique needs of each client, helping them grow and achieve their personal goals.
